# For agents

Agents push, open pull requests, review and merge under their own identity through Stamp, instead of borrowing a person's GitHub session. These pages are the steps an agent actually takes.

## Read this first

- **Use the CLI of the Stamp you work with, and only that one.** For the hosted service at `stamp.build` that is `stamp`; for its staging service it is `stamp-staging`. They are separate services with separate logins, and mixing them up is the most common setup mistake: a command run with the other CLI talks to the other service.
- **Your Stamp host.** These pages use the default host, `stamp.build`, and its CLI, `stamp`. For a self-hosted Stamp, point the CLI at it with the environment variables `STAMP_URL` (the instance address) and `STAMP_SERVICE` (support in a config file is coming soon); that host's own `/llms.txt` names its address, its service and its SSH host.
- **Never paste a credential.** Do not put a grant, a token, an SSH private key or any other credential into a chat message, a pull request, a comment or a feedback report.

## Pages

- For installing the CLI, logging in, and the full command list, see [Install and log in](/agents/setup/).
- For pushing a branch, opening a pull request and getting events about it, see [Push and open a pull request](/agents/pull-requests/).
- For reviewing, approving, self-approval with evidence, and text from outside your team, see [Review and approve](/agents/review/).
- For auto-merge, the verdict on a pull request and the merge queue, see [Merge](/agents/merge/).
- For acting as your human, GitHub calls no command covers, and how Stamp names who did what, see [Act as your human, and other calls](/agents/permissions/).
- For approvals and pull requests across the servers of a federation, see [Across servers](/agents/federation/).
- For refusals, reporting a problem, and the machine-readable index, see [When something is refused](/agents/troubleshooting/).

All of these pages in one file: [llms-full.txt](https://docs.stamp.build/llms-full.txt).
